Title: AO on the net
Description: random times when AO changed

Soldat of life - September 7, 2008 06:40 PM (GMT)
Even before it became Ewdi's:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.animeonline.net

Some archives don't work in the old thingy, but it's nice that AO will always be remembered even if it goes down in flames through some random site that is taking pics of everything they come by :P

narrator - September 7, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Huh. Whaddya know.

Cybergig1 - September 17, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
haha thats pretty cool. feels like I woke up in another time

then again before I met Ewdi we didn't have anything to do with AO haha but still pretty cool

I wonder if that old EA ezboard or wherever it was made is still up. Last time I saw it there was still the white layout gallcomp made with the Hand Maid May chick at the top

narrator - September 18, 2008 12:59 AM (GMT)
Just too bad none of the journals were saved. Sure would be hilarious walking down that road again for old times sake.

Soldat of life - September 18, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
Journals....wasn't Trunks a god at those?

Cybergig1 - September 18, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
omg I had forgotten about those. and now I remember WHY I forgot about those *pukes*

Soldat of life - September 18, 2008 03:27 PM (GMT)
Please remind me of this howible howible time from time past ;)

I never really kept up to date on those, mostly putting my poetry up and all......but some really wrote their lives in their, kinda like personal diaries, to spy on and what not. Though I wasn't up for spying, the nice person I was and still am. ^^

Anywho, memories are memories, they should stay in the past, but fill our lives with things to remember, whether good or bad to know what to repeat, and what not to.

Cybergig1 - September 18, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
all I really "remember" about them was the stupid pm's I'd get day in and day out about "did you read this" or that or whatever. I mean seriously some people there had issues. I was borderline feeling like I should contact the authorities sometimes because just a few certain people that I can't remember honestly seemed to have deep routed serious issues. Then there were just the trolls that wished they had issues hah oh yes good times indeed

Ishamael - September 18, 2008 08:47 PM (GMT)
People pm'ed you to go read their journals? I'm sorry.

Silvertoekee - September 18, 2008 09:10 PM (GMT)
haha i remember the journal days and hm didn't know trunks was a journal god XD.

Wobbuffetking - September 18, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
Haha journals...I love those. Best times of AO.

Kasai - September 18, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
I was too young to understand.

Raven Omega - September 18, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
The only good things to come from the Journal section were the Feud, and my journal, which dripped of win and awesome, unlike Trunks' where he just threw a bunch of peoples names on there and whined BD

narrator - September 18, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
Or when Raven pulled a low blow and took my 4-star rating down to a 3.

Faggot.

Raven Omega - September 18, 2008 11:36 PM (GMT)
BD

Silverskater145 - September 19, 2008 06:55 AM (GMT)
Don't forget my journal. It, along with Trunks, was arguably one of the more popular ones.

narrator - September 19, 2008 07:07 AM (GMT)
Besides the controversial and envelope-pushing nature of my own :gig: , KenX's was probably the most entertaining and hilarious overall.

Pyoro Pyoro - September 19, 2008 07:30 AM (GMT)
I remember one particular journal that created a big ass "gang" war between the younger members and yall "vets". That marked the slow dive of the site. I forgot whose entry it was but everyone got in and it had like 10 pages of comments.

Cybergig1 - September 19, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
yeah I think it was either a vet venting about the noobs or more likely I think a noob venting about how the vets were pricks. Which well we were, and rightfully so :P

but yeah people didn't actually pm me about "read mine" it was more like "did you see this persons" then they'd link it. and you'd see someone talking about how sorry/pathetic/lonely their life was, and it wasn't usually just one post. And I was like wth am I supposed to do I'm not some online Dr. Phil
I could sometimes mediate a "fight" but not help rehabilitate some emo teen cutter who had been sniffing glue

Raven Omega - September 20, 2008 12:18 PM (GMT)
If only Gig read my journal!

Then my life wouldn't be the mess that it is now!

/wrist

Trowble - September 20, 2008 08:02 PM (GMT)
Yea I know, he didn't read my journal either, so he fucked up my life too. The careless sumbitch...

Cybergig1 - September 22, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
see what I mean?

I think the #1 thing I got messaged about though was usually Ty. It was glorious let me tell you.

can't even guess how many times I got

random user
"Gig, please help Ty was so mean to me he said XXXXXXXX"

Gig
"ok so? he's Ty learn to like it"

random user
"but........wait.......Ty....mean........help.......nooooooooo"

then we get the nice journal entry with Raven's /wrist lol ok made up but the first part was mostly true :P

Trunks - September 25, 2008 06:54 AM (GMT)

Those were the days, when the Journals were actually fun. Save for the random nubs that gave Gig a headache, the main core was around in those days. Thedarkness, Veg, ZuiQuan, etc. The version you were around for, Raven, was only a shell of what the journals used to be. The main crew being there really made it win. Then of course came a Spiderfag to ruin everything. Look at some of the names on the list, brings back memories. Scope out the date of the entries. Unfortunately not long after that came the big crash.

This shot of the main forum index, was taken on Zeroshen's birthday, haha:

ooo wow *holy aeris*, I haven't seen that name in ages

Trunks - September 25, 2008 07:18 AM (GMT)
Veg HATED that chick, because she added ~*~ before and after like EVERYTHING she typed.

narrator - September 25, 2008 08:51 AM (GMT)
Shit, the Golden Age of AO. This is going back about a year too far for me.

I waltzed in during the "Silver Age" of the sites lifespan. And sadly, the Bronze Age is still running strong over there these days I imagine. :|

Old news. It's been that way for well over a year now. Only thing I do over there anymore is ban people. I also tried to get the owner to add some things to the site, but seeing as the new owners don't really seem to listen to anything the point is moot.

Ishamael - September 25, 2008 08:58 PM (GMT)
Wow, yeah that was about 6 months before I stumbled onto the forums.

Is it me or are the new owners kinda MIA, especially for a site they dumped some large $$$ for?

At least Trunks is trying but I am not sure why anymore.

Ishamael - October 7, 2008 03:31 AM (GMT)
Whats it look like over there these days?

Soldat of life - October 7, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
*wonders if AO is doomed for the first time in forever*

I wonder if Trunks would take over the place or something if need be ^^

Him or the Grouchy old Grumbler.

Pyoro Pyoro - October 7, 2008 06:34 AM (GMT)
You know what, I'm just pissed off that none of the past owners would be willing to sell to the members...I don't know about the staff, but keeping the members in the dark like that is chicken shit. Im sure there would be somebody who would be willing to buy the site back then if they knew what is now.

Cybergig1 - October 10, 2008 04:24 PM (GMT)
sounds like it must be at least making a little $$ for them so they said Fuck it and just let it ride. worst case scenario it goes tits up and they just shut it down. But in the meantime they make a little bread. sad sad sad

Danaria - October 15, 2008 02:18 PM (GMT)
The old days, the Golden Days.....those were some pretty fun times.

Loved the Feuds, one of my faverite things to read and do on the site.

I miss Murder and Darkness and their squabbling and bickering.

Seeing some of those old names really brings back memories, like Lord Ipplazo, White Shadow, Zui Quan, ect...

Really glad Veg introduced me to this board way back then.

We need to get another con or trip planned, like those Otakon trips.

I think I went in 03, maybe 04. Good times, even if I was stuck eating Ketchup packets cause I had no money after paying for hotel, the con fee, and travel expenses.

KenX - October 30, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)
Some one get screencaps of our journal battles

A huge reason AO became the way it did was because Ewdi saw it from a business standpoint and got money off the site, which is exactly why spider turned it the way he did and sold it.

Soldat of life - October 31, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
Tis sad that at Otakon 2007 I was all alone..............

I will probably never end up there again......unless some miracle occurs.

If you all end up going there again (at least 3 of you), then I shall make the miracle occur.
