"Shinigami own notebooks called “Death Notes” which are used as killing devices. Whoever’s name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds. Shinigami Ryuku accidentally dropped his Death Note in the human world where it’s found by honor high school student Light Yagami. With the death note actually having directions in it for its use, Light discovers he now has the power to discreetly kill people, and with this new power he plans to change the world in his ideal world by killing off criminals. Eventually the governments of the countries around the world notice the unusual amounts of deaths of their criminals, and figure out someone is behind them, but they have no way of discovering it themselves. That’s when they hire L, a master detective, to find out who is behind the murders."

Not long ago I picked up this title by chance at borders express after hearing a bit of hype behind it and I've been addicted ever since. Every page is filled full of mind games, rules, ways to bend them, detailed logic, tricks, and murder. As the manga progresses Light uses the Death notes in new ways that amaze even Ryuk, the former owner of the Death Note who haunts him.

Anyone who likes a good psychological manga should check this out, the artworks sick too. Now please don't tell me I'm the only one here who's picked up this gem.

I downloaded a chunk of it but I couldn't get into it. A bit too boring for my tastes.
It may be more my fellow Gorecreep's bag though...

Pyschological? Thinking? Logic, murder, games.

Where can I download. I want my penis to be bigger after all.

Hmmm, let me think...
Narutofan but you have to be a 'plus' member.

I don't think the place where I downloaded it still has it or still exists because Death Note has been licensed.

Ah, my cup o' tea indeed.

Silverskater145 - April 14, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
Ok. I downloaded Death Note. I tried opening bsplayer and playing it that way...didn't work, obviously. Basically in my Death Note folder, I have zip folders, some are "books" and some are just "chapters." In the book folders there are more chapter folders. And then in every chapter folder, theres an average of 30 images. Those images are like..the pages...

The problem? I have to click every image, close it, and click the next. It makes for every slow viewing. Is there any other way?

Raven Omega - April 14, 2006 05:56 PM (GMT)
I have windows image viewer... comes with windows xp. easy to view in that.

Firstly... To answer my question above... For any of you that read manga on the computer, go download a wonderful program called CDisplay. It not only makes each page bigger, but you can simply read by pressing the space bar, first to go from the top of the page to the bottom, and then to the next. An amazing program.

Secondly... Death Note is my favorite manga. What an amazing manga. I am totally hooked on it. Great stuff. Every chapter makes me want more. But it's definitely not your run of the mill stuff where people run around with goofy faces and girls' breasts are everywhere. It's a serious, psychological manga. The dialouge is rather lenghty and the whole plot is like a huge game of cat and mouse between intellectual minds.

Go. Go download.

-1 to the both of you

IrfanView ftw

I'm no longer a fan of manga. Nevertheless, the wonderful comments about this one makes me want to buy it. It may revive my thirst for mangas.

Volume 5 just came out, damn good read. I'm glad I'm spacing this out instead of downloading it and finishing it in a couple sittings.

Hassun - May 9, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
Does it change a lot from the first volume onwards?

Raven Omega - May 9, 2006 10:40 PM (GMT)
it's constantly changing, but the base plot and actions remain. Not getting stagnant at all.

Hassun - May 9, 2006 10:48 PM (GMT)
Maybe I'll give it another try. I read the first volume when it was scanlated but I wasn't impressed.

Raven Omega - May 9, 2006 10:56 PM (GMT)
if you're expecting gore to surface don't bother, it's all psychological.
