Title: Are you Vista Ready?
Raven Omega - October 9, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
Vista's on the horizon people, just about three months away, so the big question is, Are you Vista Ready?
http://www.ati.com/technology/WindowsVista...uvistaready.aspTake the mark here and post your results. Lets see who's got the best computer around these parts that can handle Vista.

There's my Desktop PC's results... p...pathetic. T-T Not even the minimum...

My new Notebook looks like it'll run Vista just fine, only falling short on the video card for the optimal settings, just because they recommend the next version in the series. It meets all the other required hardware elements of the card though.
God... my Desktop was just raped by the notebook, how sad.

Yea I got the same exact score you did, same reason too, it falls short from the video card. Then again look at this:
| QUOTE |
Video Card Recommended: 256 MB 100% DirectX 9 graphic card with Pixel Shader 3.0 hardware support (ATI Radeon X1800 series or better) |
| QUOTE |
You Have: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 (GeForce Go 7400) Sorry, your video card does not meet this requirement. Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 256 MB , You have - 256.0 MB Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0 Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0 |
ATi and NVIDIA aren't the best of friends, so I'm sure they'd beg to differ against my graphics card, even it says to passing everything BUT the graphics card itself.
Corporate America.
Raven Omega - October 10, 2006 01:04 AM (GMT)
Not entirely, the GeForce Go is a bit weaker than my X1400, so you're probably right on par with me. I'm sure our cards could handle optimal anyway.
Trowble - October 10, 2006 04:18 AM (GMT)
It's mainly for the transparent GUI thingy I think.

My Computer's graphics card isn't that great, but as long as it can run Half Life 2(without it looking like crap), I'm happy.
Kasai - October 10, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
Heh, my computer froze while doing this exam thing. My comp is so not vista ready.
Hassun - October 10, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Pff, fuck Vista.
At least for another year.

By the time you get that, they'll be asking for something "better". It's like playing "catch-up", except with money.
Other than that, all I need is a better Graphics card and my bar will look like yours and raven's(which are pretty evenly matched).
frr_Vegeta - October 19, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
Yes but my bar is animated, which makes my computer better by far.

Well now so is mine! Advantage LOST!
Besides, Radeon X1400 > X800xl. Don't get so cocky! :cm:
Silverskater145 - October 19, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)

I don't get it. I passed everything but the Vid Card, which is natural since it's a GeForce 660GT.I also failed the DVD part because... I don't have a DVD drive:
"FAIL: Sorry, your computer does not have a DVD-ROM that meets this requirement."
I don't have one at all dumbass.
I passed everything else with flying colors. Just look at the recommended Optimal settings:
CPU
Recommended: Pentium 4
You Have: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+
CPU Speed
Recommended: 1 GHz
You Have: 2.20 GHz Performance Rated at 3.50 GHz
System RAM
Recommended: 1 GB
You Have: 1022.4 MB
Free Disk Space
Recommended: 15 GB
You Have: 246.4 GB
Hard Disk Capacity
Recommended: 40 GB
You Have: 279.5 GB
As for the Graphics card?
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card
Video RAM: Required - 256 MB , You have - 128.0 MB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0
Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 3.0 , You have - 3.0
So I fail to meet the recquired settings because of not having a DVD drive, and failing one part of the Graphics card test? What a bunch of BS. I passed every other "optimal" setting, some with flying colors, and I still fail to meet the recquired. Not even near the recquired settings.
Un-biased website, next time, please. kthbye
Either way, Vista can kiss my ass until I buy another computer. No upgrade for me.
frr_Vegeta - October 22, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
Hell no the x800xl is about on par with the x1600. :cm:
Raven Omega - October 22, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
I require statistics for this, as I'm far too lazy to look them up now.
I'll go with the basic dumbass logic of "if it has a bigger number, it MUST be superior!"
Trowble - October 22, 2006 09:28 PM (GMT)
My nuts have a bigger number, therefore they are superior. End.
frr_Vegeta - October 22, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Following your logic, the x850xt is worse than the x1300 :cm:
